This Week I Learned: Windows Subsystem for Linux [2021–12–31]
I feel like I’ve stumbled on the holy grail of having a home computer for non-developer stuff that just works and has all the home computer apps I’ve been using for a million years plus a Linux development environment where I can use all of the same tools that I have at work and allows me to really mess with anything I want. See last week’s TWIL for an example: I’m going to have the same zsh + PowerLevel10k setup at home and at work. It’s going to just work. Amazing. 😎
I’ve been using git bash on Windows for ages, but I always encountered limitations and kludges, which I guess is natural for something pretending to be Linux-but-not-really. This is actually Linux.
