This Week I Learned: Brits are worried that their country is falling apart [2021–01–07]

By chance I came across both of these pieces in the same week. It could be coincidence or the new year making people ponder the big questions, but it made me think. I’d never before come across Brits publicly worrying that their country might fall apart.

External pundits? Sure. There’s a pundit for everything.

Scottish nationalists etc? Sure. They’re trying to figure out what should happen on their own home soil, not worrying that it might.

Have I previously missed something about how they view themselves?

(To be clear, I’m not taking any stance on what could, should or will happen.)
